What You’ll Need:

• ¼ yard of cotton fabric
• 1-2”x8” scrap piece of cotton fabric for bias trim, which has been pressed in half lengthwise and then pressed in half again and cut in half.
• ¼ yard of Insul Brite
• Free Printable Skillet Handle Cover Pattern
• Matching thread
• Sewing pins or clips
• Scissors
• Rotary cutter & mat
• Iron and ironing board or iron mat

How To DIY Cast Iron Skillet Handle Cover With A Free Printable Pattern

Make sure you have washed, dried, and ironed the fabric you have picked out for your skillet handle cover. This will help prep the fabric for your project as well as future washing, as it pre-shrinks the fabric so you don’t mess up your stitches later. Using your template, cut 4 pieces of the handle from your cotton fabric and 2 from the Insul Brite.

Layer your handle pieces so you will have two stacks of the following: a cotton piece right side down, a piece of Insul Bright and a piece of cotton right side up.

Pin or clip the layers in place so that they don’t move. After that, pin a piece of the bias across the open end on each handle.
