What is the difference between Dr Brown's original and options bottles? ›
Dr. Brown's Natural Flow® Bottles should be used with the vent system, as it is essential to the bottle working properly and preventing the vacuum found in other bottles. Dr. Brown's Options Bottles can be used with or without the vent system.
What does 1 mean on Dr Brown bottles? ›
Brown's bottles come with a Level 1 Nipple, which is a slow-flow nipple for newborn babies and older. That level may be too fast or too slow for your baby and you may need to adjust. It's also common for baby to graduate to a faster flow as their feeding develops.
Do all Dr Brown nipples fit all bottles? ›

When should I change from teat 1 to 2? ›
There is no “right” time to change your baby's teat level. Every baby is different; some babies will be perfectly content using level one throughout their bottle feeding days, while others are more aggressive eaters and need to advance to the next level.

- Frustration while feeding; unlatching from the teat and crying.
- Biting the teat.
- Taking longer to feed.
- Losing interest in a feed.

Why do Dr Brown bottles leak so much? ›
The vent system in Dr. Brown's bottles is what gives our bottle the benefits of reduced colic, gas, spit-up and burping – which makes it a great for feeding baby. When the vent, collar, and nipple are on the bottle, it is not a sealed storage container and you may experience leaking in certain situations.
Can you reuse Dr Brown bottles for second baby? ›
As long as they're not broken or warped, bottles are fine to reuse. You'll just need to buy some new teats.
Is there a difference between the blue and green Dr Brown bottles? ›
Dr. Brown's bottles are available in two varieties: Natural Flow and Options. Options (green) is like the original Natural Flow (blue) but with the added “option” to use the bottle with or without the internal vent system.
When should I change my Dr Browns teat size? ›
There is no “right” time to change your baby's nipple level. Some babies are content using Level 1 throughout their feeding days, while more aggressive eaters may advance sooner than expected. Your baby will offer signs if the flow is not fast enough and it's time to move up a level.
Dr Brown's Options+ bottle can be used with or without the internal venting system. You may find that removing the venting system simplifies things for you as your baby's feeding becomes more developed, around the 4 month mark! As with any bottle, it is important to ensure proper assembly so the bottle works correctly.
How long should it take a baby to eat 4 ounces? ›
Feedings should occur every 2-3 hours and hopefully every 4-5 during the night. Feeding should take about 30 minutes. If bottle feeding, a ballpark amount is 3-4 ounces.
