The Engineer can support teammates by providing them with ground to stand on with the Platform Gun and can assist in combat using the LMG Gun Platform to construct sentries. Sentries can be placed in defensive positions to protect the team, and platforms can help the team mobilize during missions.
The Engineer's primary weapons consist of the "Warthog" Auto 210, the "Stubby" Voltaic SMG and the LOK-1 Smart Rifle. His secondary weapons consist of the Deepcore 40mm PGL, the Breach Cutter and the Shard Diffractor.
The Engineer has four Throwables to pick from: The L.U.R.E. which creates a holographic dwarf decoy that distracts enemies, the Plasma Burster which creates four explosions per grenade, the Proximity Mine which only explodes when a medium or larger enemy enters its trigger zone, and the Shredder Swarm which unleashes a small bundle of friendly Shredders to attack nearby targets.
Equipment
All classes have unique Equipment items, each of which can be individually upgraded using 
Credits and minerals. There are currently six unlockable weapons per class, three primary weapons and three secondary weapons, and each weapon has its own assignment which must be completed in order for it to be unlocked. Once an assignment for a weapon has been completed, it then can be purchased via the upgrade terminal.

Trivia
- The Engineer is the only dwarf whose default appearance in official artwork varies. Sometimes he is shown with a full beard and a moustache. Other times he is shown with only a moustache and no beard.
