The day is raising funds to "help put food on plates, roofs over heads and keep little ones safe". Although the theme doesn't change, Comic Relief often launches new red noses - and 2024 is no different.

Comic Relief had reported declining totals in recent years from its flagship telethon of £59m in 2021, £42.8m in 2022 and £32m in 2023. Before 2021, it had held Red Nose Day and Sport Relief on alternate years, with on-the-night totals for the former declining since £78m was raised in 2015.

Red Nose Day raises money using comedy and entertainment to help people in need all over the world.

£74.3 million was raised on the night, the highest ever 'on the night' total. This was subsequently beaten by £0.8 million on Red Nose Day 2013's on-the-night event. The total for the whole campaign was £108.4 million, the then highest raised for one event.
