Gameplay[]
The Intruder is a first-person horror experience on Roblox. The player(s)'s goal is to survive and hide from the Intruder to prevent him from killing you. There are currently 5 available levels: 'The House', 'The Mall', 'The End?', 'Mineshaft', and 'The Psychiatric Hospital'. There are also the V.H.S. tapes. The game can be played in two modes: Singleplayer and Multiplayer.
In The Intruder, there are two main bars you need to pay attention to:
Awareness: This tells you how aware the Intruder is of your location. Your Awareness will raise if:
- You leave the phone ringing (House)
- If the alarms go off for a certain amount of time (Mall) When your Awareness reaches 100%, you'll get a game over.
Anxiety: Anxiety increases if you don't check the cameras, or if the lights are off for too long. If your Anxiety reaches 100%, it is presumed that the player passes out from shock.
MULTIPLAYER MODE
Multiplayer Mode is one of the two current modes in the game. Choosing 'Multiplayer' allows you to play in a lobby with up to 4 players.
Map 1 (House)[]
The House is the first map which was added to the game. First, what happens is that the phone service tells you about what to do when an intruder invades your house. There are cameras to check where the intruder is and they are as follows:
- Cam 1: Front Door
- Cam 2: Streets
- Cam 3: Living Room
- Cam 4: Basement Stairs
- Cam 5: Basement
- Cam 6: Hallway
- Cam 7: Backyard
- Cam 8: ERROR (Can be viewed by staying in the game for a while)
- Cam 9: Ventilation
- Cam 10: Room (if the player(s) die(s) and you check on the cameras, you will find Cam 10 or Room.)
The Intruder is the closest to you when he presents in the Hallway (Cam 06), or the Ventilator (Cam 09). If you see him in cam 6, then fix the phone (incase its broken), turn off the lights and hide in the closet. The Intruder will open the door and come inside to check on the room. DO NOT MOVE when The Intruder is checking the closet; otherwise, you or the player who moves will die. The other way of attack is the Ventilation. If you see him in cam 9, turn off the lights and stay still until you hear the vent shut. You can also hide in the closet if you want to.
You have. to constantly check the cams so that you can make sure the intruder is not near you. This will go on until the game finishes. You need to keep hiding. Once the game finishes and you survive, You will be awarded with the "You're Saved!" badge.
Map 2 (Mall)[]
The Mall is the second map which was added to the game. In the mall map, there is also a phone call, but that is just a reminder to remind you that you have started your shift in the map. The shift goes on from 12 AM to 7 AM. The bell will ring when an hour has passed. The rules are the same like the house map, but the cameras are different. The cameras are as follows:
- Cam 1: Hallway 1
- Cam 2: Hallway 2
- Cam 3: Escalator
- Cam 4: Restaurant
- Cam 5: Second Floor
- Cam 6: Parking Lot
- Cam 7: Shoe Store
- Cam 8: Janitor Room
- Cam 9: Hallway 3
- Cam 10: The Shift Room
The Intruder is the closest to you when he disappears from Hallway 1 (Cam 01) or Hallway 3 (Cam 09). If you see him in these places, hide in the lockers which are present near the cameras or near the door, as fast as you can. Do not move, although you don't have to turn off the lights, unlike the house map. But if you want to, there is a switch near one of the alarm buttons.
The Intruder can appear in 2 ways, The first way is when the Intruder looks through the window, you can hide or turn off the lights. He can also appear by opening the shift room door and will proceed to check the entire room, If this happens, hide until he leaves. There are a few audio and visual cues on the cameras you should look out for, these are listed below:
Cue | Type | Definition | Counter action | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|
Camera static | Visual | The intruder has moved. | N/A | Doesn't always appear. If the intruder leaves Cam 1 with very brief static, he will do his room attack. |
Extended camera static | Visual | The intruder is tampering with the power on Cam 8. Expect a power outage shortly. | Exit the cameras and wait for the power to go out. Replace the fuses. | You can briefly see the intruder on cam 8 after restoring the fuses. |
A ghostly whooshing sound, followed by a bang. | Audio | The intruder has entered Cam 9. Expect his window attack shortly. | Turn off the lights and wait for him to leave the window. a quiet, deep tone will play when it's safe to turn the lights back on. You can alternately hide in a locker to avoid a game over. | You don't have to turn off the lights right after hearing this sound, just wait for the intruder to disappear from Cam 9. |
To replace the phone call mechanic, there is an alarm that will sound every time an hour has passed. (Not immediately, but after half a minute or so.) To silence the alarm, the player has to press a button that glows red. There's also a mode difficulty where you may need to silence two or more alarms.
Easy: 1 alarm goes off
Hard: 2 or more alarms go off
Nightmare: All alarms go off
During the end, there is a small conversation about The Intruder's appearance with the police. It is said that there was a young boy whose voice got mimicked by the intruder. This is somewhat related to the V.H.S tapes in the Single player mode. In multiplayer, if someone dies, but stays in the game until the end, they see a different conversation where the officer talks of another death.
A small note: The player(s) might glitch randomly; (they will be stuck in the top of the wall i.e., the sky) and will not be able to take the glitch out on command. It will take the glitch out randomly.
Map 3 (Mineshaft)[]
The Mineshaft is a map which was added on April 1st, 2023. This Map consists of The Intruder moving around (i.e. they are not outside, but actually inside). This map is the first map which does not consist of anxiety and awareness and to require navigation. However, this map contains 5 generators, each one will be broken randomly by The Intruder. (Tip: Going after a recently broken generator will get you closer to The Intruder's location, causing you to most likely get caught.) Fixing them will require quick timing events similar to the game Dead By Daylight. To hide from The Intruder, you have to hide in lockers that are placed throughout the map. There is a percentile meter, the game is often guessed to end once the meter reaches 100%. However, once it reaches 100%, you must actually run back to the lift you entered the map in, with only 30 seconds on your side. This is practically impossible without knowing the map by heart, or simply having a screenshot.
An Important Note: Sometimes, in this map, The Intruder will glitch and have for example, their arm stuck in the wall. This often happens after the intruder catches someone, normally around corners.
Map 4 (Psychiatric Hospital)[]
The Hospital is an asylum-like map. It contains 3 entities (only The Intruder and The Unhinged in Easy mode). When you first wake up, you realize everybody is gone, it will play a dialogue cutscene as soon as you leave the room you wake up in. You then need to explore the place. Once you unlock the gate with a silver key, you find a generator and discover that you need a gold key to unlock another gate to continue (These keys are usually in the cells). Just like before, you need to find a gold key. Once you find it and unlock it, another room lays upon you. It contains a wrench that you use to 'smack' the generator to get it going. You can go to the elevator and go up once you power the generator. A cutscene plays in the elevator, people arrive. You hope they can help you find the others. (The people who arrived are the three entities, also possibly including the woman at the end of the game.) Once you get out of the elevator, you find an office similar to a FNAF (original) office. The office has 2 doors, and a vent on the top. You need to wait for other generators to power up. You need to close doors at the right time when they walk on cameras 3 and 4, and turn off the lights and stay still when you hear the vent go off. (The Vent Dweller/Intruder [Easy Mode] will get closer to the camera in the vents and have their mouth more wide open.) You need to be careful with how fast the intruders switch cameras. After a little bit of this gameplay, you'll have to make your way down a hallway where you'll then encounter one of the shapeshifters behind you. However, some concealed being, most likely another person, shoots the shapeshifter, causing it to disappear and presumably die. You'll have to continue exploring until you make it to the basement, where you'll come across a shapeshifter with a paper mask. The mask has a smile drawn on it. She'll walk in front of the gate and sit in place for a few seconds, before the gate descends into the ground due to what could only be the shapeshifter pressing the button. (This has changed to when the button got moved on the player's side of the gate, causing the woman there to only walk by without pressing a button.) The shapeshifter will then walk into a dark corridor in the wall and disappear.
The office section has a total of 9 cameras.[]
- Cam 1: North Room
- Cam 2: Storage
- Cam 3: East Office Hall
- Cam 4: West Office Hall
- Cam 5: Study Room
- Cam 6: West Hallway
- Cam 7: North Hallway
- Cam 8: East Hallway
- Cam 9: Ventilation
- ???: Distraction cutscene
Both The Intruder and The Unhinged work similarly: making their way to your office. The Intruder appears closest to you on West Office Hall (Cam 4) (or Ventilation (Cam 9) on Easy Mode), while The Unhinged appears closest on East Office Hall (Cam 3). Only shut the door as they are at the end of the hallway as the door WILL open after 5 seconds and could end your run if not careful. Another entity, called The Vent Dweller, enters the vent (Cam 9), but has a few stages before entering as well. He releases a sound cue before appearing, also if you see him very close to the camera and disappear, turn off the lights.
Bug: The Vent Dweller can appear while still on the camera, its recommended relying on the sound cue as this glitch is happening a lot.
Fun Facts[]
- There is a bug where you will spawn in at the office. You can use this to your advantage so you don't have to go through 2 cutscenes, however it does ruin the story because you cannot get on the elevator.
- The Intruder has a chance to tamper with Cam 6 during the night, angling it down at the ground.
- You are able to infinitely revive for free, however when you do it you won't obtain the map's completion badge.
- This is the only map with multiple jumpscares, as well as a game over screen for the appropriate entity.
- Some of the cameras are areas you were previously in before the office.
- There is a chance that the cameras will change to a cutscene that from a first person perspective, one walks through a dark cave, filled with a skull and a few bones before approaching a cliff, then falling through. It then goes static, and returns to the normal cams. This is most likely a distraction, a prank from the guy who installed stuff into the computer or something intended to scare the player.
- Before you go trough the elevator, you can find a poster of a kitty, right next to it a paper displaying "Relax".
SINGLEPLAYER MODE[]
If you click on singleplayer, you'll be teleported to another server with only you. In Singleplayer, your screen has 2 game modes: 'Levels' and 'V.H.S. Tapes'. Once you're done choosing a gamemode, you click on the PLAY button and the game will start.
V.H.S Tapes[]
Tape 01 (The First Encounter)[]
In tape 1, we are introduced to someone who says they are schizophrenic. Their doctor told them to record a tape to help him study it when they have episodes. They say their medicine doesn't help. After the introduction to the tape, you are put into a house where you must walk to the end of a hallway. The Intruder finds you, ending the tape and giving you "The first victim..." badge.
Tape 02 (The Hideout)[]
In tape 2, a kid named Jason was reported missing by his father and last seen 6 hours ago going to his friend's house down the road. Jason wore a green hoodie and blue sweatpants. Turns out Jason was in a forest walking in an unknown path. After walking down the path for sometime, Jason saw a cave and was interested in walking inside of it. Then after climbing the ladders and walking deeper into a cave, Jason saw a wood structure shelter, not realizing what is inside, he came close enough to the door inside the shelter. The door opens, and The Intruder walks out. Then the Intruder mocks Jason for falling for his apparent "trap". The Intruder asks Jason for his name before he lets Jason "leave". However, Jason didn't say anything until The Intruder realized that Jason was the missing kid from TV. Then The Intruder welcomes Jason to his hideout, however he was not willing to release any witnesses at the moment. After that The Intruder tells Jason to sit back and wait since The Intruder was going somewhere before The Intruder and Jason have some "fun". Jason decided to explore until he tries to escape. The Intruder quickly found out and chased him, shouting, "COME BACK HERE!" However, Jason was quick enough to go into a hole. So The Intruder decides to find him in the labyrinth of mazes that Jason fell into, calling it "a game of hide and go seek" Jason manages to escape the cave, but right before he escapes, The Intruder finds him at the entrance of the cave, ending the tape and giving you the "You found his hideout!" badge.
Tape 03 (Copycat)[]
In tape 3, it starts off with a person saying that they are a victim to what he calls 'the creepy man' (The Intruder if you didn't notice). The person then says that their mother was at a casino doing what 'she usually does'. Then, they hear their mother saying "Honey, I'm home!" and asks them to come downstairs. When downstairs, the 'mother' asks them to "come down sooner" and her 'voice' starts breaking up, and 'her' head peeks at the person (She was The Intruder if you couldn't have guessed). That wasn't their mother. The person hides and goes in their room, and then the door opens and then the VHS ends. It also gives you the 'He's on the other side' badge.
The End?[]
In the singleplayer mode there are 3 levels, the house, the mall, and the exclusive map, The End?. The End? is the first level where we explore a map, the character Henry, goes to an abandoned house looking for The Intruder. And trying to get vengeance for The Intruder killing his family in a car crash. Henry goes through the house answering phones that The Intruder teases Henry until he gets to the dinner room, in the dinner room there is 5 doors leading to different rooms, The Intruder wants Henry to get the dinner room ready and he goes through 4 of the doors to get the table ready, it's interesting to talk about the third room where a baby entity representing Henry's deceased child chases him 2 times, another thing is that the second and third room have puzzle to tease Henry with his family death. When the table is ready the last door opens to a basement, Henry hears her wife Sarah voice and when he gets close The Intruder starts chasing Henry until he gets to the door where The Intruder came from where we hide. After that Henry gets to a big room that looks like a maze and he gets chased again by The Intruder, the chase ends when Henry jumps into a hole and get knocked out. When he wakes up he is back at the abandoned home entrance and leaves according to him, with enough evidence for the police and hopes that the police takes care of The Intruder

Players[]
