Congratulations to John Procter for a very successful and fun year! Congratulations to Al Guilin, Gale Mason award winner, Bob Russell, Rotarian of the Year and much appreciation to Peggy Kelly for all of our great PR! The Past Presidents have Saved Rotary. The gavel has been transferred to Jason Cole. We are ready for our next adventure and superior community service.

The Rotary Club of Santa Paula is proud to be an active club in District 5240. Our District covers 3 California counties!

Today Jenny Arana discovered the toy chest at VCMC Cancer Care Clinic for Children was empty. She called in the Rotary troops who love to serve their community. Carlos, Stephanie and Jenny went to pick up 6 boxes of toys for children ages 24 months to 10 years old. These children are treated for cancer and have infusions, transfusions, treatments and testing. After all of their painful and scary medical treatments are done, they get to pick a toy from the toy chest for their bravery. Thank you to all the Rotarians who donated the toys and the three Rotarians who were able to immediately jump into action and make a difference for children with cancer in our community. It is our honor to serve!

Our Rotary club made a donation in the name of former Rotarian and Community friend, Randy Axell. Randy was a treasured friend and will be missed by all. We are so grateful for his commitment to Santa Paula Art Museum and the Santa Paula community. In addition, we made a donation to the Santa Paula Art Museum who has matching funds available. Capture the beauty of Santa Paula, the purpose of Santa Paula Beautiful Photo Contest is to showcase the breathtaking variety of scenic beauty, landmarks, buildings, nature that abounds in our community.

1. This contest is open for online submissions only via email atRotaryContest@santapaularotary.com
2. Photos must be submitted before October 12, 2020 at 11:59 pm. PST. Any submissions after this deadline will not be included in the contest.
3. Photos submitted must be at least 640 pixels on the shorter side, and no more than 2000 pixels on the longer side. Images should be no larger than 2MB. Photos must be in JPEG format.
4. You may submit one photo for this contest.
5. You are required to provide a unique title & description for each image submitted.
6. All entries must showcase the beauty of Santa Paula and immediate adjacent areas.
7. There must be no border(s), logo(s), copyright marks, identifying marks, or any other visible references and/or marks on the images.
8. Basic editing, including color enhancement, the use of filters, and cropping of the Photo(s) is acceptable, provided any such editing does not affect the authenticity and/or genuineness of the photos.
9. A panel of professional photographers from Santa Paula will judge all entries and select three winning photos. The winners will be announced October 14, 2020.
10. There will be three prizes: first prize; a 20x24 printed photo of the winning image, mounted, laminated and framed with a canvas texture on it (value $250.00). Second prize a 16x20 printed photo of the winning image, mounted, framed and laminated with a canvas texture on it (value $200.00). Third prize: an1 1x14 printed photo of the winning image mounted, laminated and framed with a canvas texture on it (value $150.00)
11. Printed winner’s photos will be available for pick up only at Melgar Photo Studio. 951 E. Main St. Santa Paula, two weeks after winners are announced.

He is currently the Executive Director of the Santa Paula Chamber of Commerce. John is involved in numerous programs and organizations in Santa Paula.

It is that wonderful time of year once again! The Rotary Club of Santa Paula will accept applications for up to 500 Christmas baskets for Santa Paula families in need. The applications will be accepted at the Boys and Girls Club between 9:30 am and Noon on November 9 and between 6:00 pm and 8:30 pm on November 10. No late applications will be accepted. Applicants will be accepted by need NOT first come first serve. Recipients will be notified by mail. Only Santa Paula residents are eligible.

Our club celebrated Judy's year on June 27 at the Aviation Museum of Santa Paula. We are grateful for a thoughtful and fearless leader. We had a tremendous year under her leadership. Wishing you more blue skies to fly in Judy Phelps as you Rotary journey continues as a Past President.

President Judy Phelps and Secretary Maria Bombara represented the Rotary Club of Santa Paula at the District Conference in Bakersfield this weekend. Judy and Maria were hosted by Bakersfield Breakfast President Jackie Maxwell.The weekend began with areunion luncheon held at Jackie's home for the group who traveled together in Brazil last May. Great Rotary fellowship! The evening began with a fun social at The Park at the Mark. Delicious food,reconnecting with old friends and meeting new friends.We were then invited to enjoy First Friday in downtown Bakersfield. Saturday morning celebrated our youth partners; Boys & Girls Club, Interact and Rotaract.

Interact, Youth Exchangeand Rotaract members and presenters reminded us to maintain our core values of Service, Fellowship and Ethical Behaviors while asking our members how we will attract the younger members. Respect the differences n our communications. Understand technology is assumed by the millennials. Ensure Rotary service is maintained for generations to come. Why Now? Why Now.

The eveningcelebrated Rotary and the Sounds of Bakersfieldat Buck Owens Crystal Palace. Our keynote speaker was Larry Powell. Larry was quite the inspirational speaker. There was a delicious BBQ dinner and live music by Monty Byrom and The Buckaroos which sparked lots of dancing! Rotarians work hard and play hard to make a difference in our communities, in our world.

Dr. Mike Tushla brought Athletics Director, Danny Guzman, to Rotary for an update on fall sports! Did you know Dr. Mike has been the football on field doctor for home and away games for 21 years? Way to go Dr. Mike!

Jim Lewis of Moorpark Rotary shared his polio story with our club on Monday. Jim reminded us the eradication of polio is still a top priority for Rotary. Jim is pictured here with President Chris Wilson and Past Presidents and National Immunization Day participants Pamela Lindsay and Nils Rueckert. That special time of year is upon us once again. The Rotary Club of Santa Paula is preparing to distribute 500 Christmas Baskets on December 24. We need your help! We are asking for food and toy donations please. We especially need gifts for the 13-17 year olds. Sports equipment, hair and make up products, age appropriate games and books, and gift cards are a few examples. There are many drop off locations in town. He is a member of the American Bar Association, as well as the bar associations of Cleveland County and the state of Oklahoma. He is admitted to practice in Oklahoma and before the U.S. Supreme Court.
